BonusTrace (bonustrace.com) is an independent casino and casino-bonus comparison website operated by Bonus Trace, Malta. For the purposes of the GDPR, Bonus Trace is the data controller responsible for the personal data described in this policy.
You can contact us about anything in this policy at hello@bonustrace.com. Given the size and nature of our processing, we have not appointed a Data Protection Officer; privacy requests are handled directly by the Bonus Trace team.
This policy applies to bonustrace.com and any pages, tools and calculators we publish on it. It does not cover the websites of casinos, affiliate networks or other third parties that we link to. Once you leave BonusTrace, the privacy policy of the site you visit applies, so please read it before you register or deposit.
Like almost every website, our servers automatically record technical information when you visit a page. This “log data” includes your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page you requested, the referring page, and your browser and operating system. It is created by our web hosting provider and is used to deliver the site and keep it secure.
We use a small number of cookies and browser-storage items, for example to remember your compare list or your language choice. The full list, and how to control them, is in our Cookie Policy.
Your filters, sort order, compare selections and language preference are stored on your own device so the site works the way you set it. They contain the IDs of the casinos or offers you selected, not your name or contact details.
If you email us, we receive your email address, any name you provide and the content of your message, including any attachments.
Buttons such as “View bonus” or “Visit casino” may contain a tracking reference that tells the casino the visit came from BonusTrace. The casino or its affiliate network may later send us reports with aggregated or pseudonymous figures, such as the number of clicks, sign-ups or first deposits and the commission due. These reports do not include your name, casino account details or payment information, and we cannot use them to identify you.
We don’t ask for identity documents, payment card details or casino login details, and we don’t knowingly collect special-category data such as health information. Please don’t send us this information by email.
| Purpose | Data used | Legal basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Delivering the website, preventing abuse and fixing errors | Log data | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): running a secure, working website |
| Remembering your compare list, filters and language | Device storage and cookies | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): providing the features you ask for |
| Understanding how visitors arrive at the site (referring site or campaign) | Visit-source cookies set by WooCommerce order attribution | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): understanding which sources bring visitors |
| Translating pages when you choose another language | Page content and your IP address, sent to Google Translate | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): providing a translation you request |
| Answering your emails, corrections and complaints | Contact data and message content | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) and steps you ask us to take |
| Receiving and checking affiliate commission reports | Aggregated or pseudonymous reports | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): being paid for referrals |
| Keeping records and responding to lawful requests | Data needed for the specific obligation | Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have balanced those interests against your rights and keep the data to the minimum needed. You can object to this processing at any time (see “Your rights” below).
We use a limited number of service providers to run BonusTrace. Each one only receives the data needed for its task.
We don’t sell personal data, and we don’t share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Some providers, such as Google, may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where this happens, the transfer is protected either because the provider participates in the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework or by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, together with any additional safeguards the provider applies.
| Data | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Server log data | For a short period set by our hosting provider, and no longer than 30 days unless we need it to investigate a security incident or abuse |
| Emails and correspondence | Up to 24 months after our last contact, unless we need to keep them longer to deal with a complaint or legal claim |
| Cookies and device storage | Until they expire or you delete them – see our Cookie Policy |
| Affiliate commission reports | As long as required for accounting and tax purposes under Maltese law |
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
To use any of these rights, email hello@bonustrace.com. It’s free, and we’ll reply within one month. In complex cases we may extend this by up to two further months and will tell you why. We may ask you for information to confirm your identity before acting on a request.
If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority. Our lead authority in Malta is:
Office of the Information and Data Protection Commissioner (IDPC)
Floor 2, Airways House, Triq Il-Kbira, Tas-Sliema SLM 1549, Malta
Website: idpc.org.mt · Email: idpc.info@idpc.org.mt · Phone: +356 2328 7100
If you live elsewhere in the EU or EEA, you can also complain to the authority in your own country.
BonusTrace is intended only for adults who are at least 18 years old, or older where local law sets a higher gambling age. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we’ll delete it.
The site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, access to our systems is limited to people who need it, and we keep our software and plugins up to date. No website can be completely secure, but we work to protect your data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access.
Our filters, sorting options, ratings and calculators simply arrange and calculate information based on the choices you make. We don’t use them to make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects, and we don’t build marketing profiles of visitors.
We don’t currently send newsletters or marketing emails. If we introduce them, we’ll only send them to people who have clearly opted in, every email will include an unsubscribe link, and anyone who opts out of gambling marketing will not receive promotional offers from us.
We may update this policy when our website, our service providers or the law change. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. If we make significant changes, we’ll highlight them on this page.
